Striking similarities between a ground-breaking judgement and the updated Principles!

In a judgement of 29/04/2021 the German Constitutional Court emphasized the importance of clear rules: what needs to be done by all sectors of society. Whitout such rules they cannot sufficiently anticipate which measures they have to take. Our principles aim to provide guidance concerning concrete steps to be taken by Enterprises and other key players.

the judgement refers to a report of the German Advisory Council on the Environment. According to that report, the global carbon budget should be based on a 67% probability that the 1.75C threshold will not be passed. The global carbon budget has to be calculated on a per capita basis. The updated EP adopt the same approach and threshold.
