Elisabeth was elected to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France as a Judge in November 2001. She was re-elected in November 2007. From October 2011 until 2015, she served as the Vice-President of Section I of the Court. Since retiring from the Court in October 2015, she has been an attorney at law in Vienna, Austria.
